I wasn’t quite sure when I fell asleep, but I woke up to Oshun holding me close as we lay in bed. The sun was shining brightly, and I noted it was a little after eight in the morning when I checked my phone that was sitting on the nightstand. O was knocked out and didn’t even move as I slid from underneath him to sit up. He must have come in really late because I stayed up until two in the morning before I called down and just told the receptionist he was good to come up whenever he got in.

My mind wouldn’t let me rest because I was still in shock about shooting Dax, and I was scared out my damn mind that Oshun would get caught. I got that he was used to handling shit like that, but it didn’t make me any less worried, on top of the fact that he was alone.

I glanced to him, noticing how peaceful he seemed as he slept. What happened didn’t bother him one bit, and I wished that I could say the same. I wasn’t broken over it, but the possibility of my ass going to jail had my stomach in knots. The only thing that kept me somewhat calm was knowing O would do whatever he could to make sure that not even a hair on my fucking head was misplaced.

The sound of a phone vibrating broke my thoughts, and my eyes rolled the second I saw it was Oshun’s cell. At the sight of Talena’s name, I turned it off then grabbed my remote before turning to the news, so I could see if anything was said about Dax. I had no idea what O did with him, and was positive that he wasn’t going to tell me either.

I was watching the news without blinking for over an hour before a picture of Dax’s car flashed across the screen. I listened intently as the newscaster explained the gruesome murder that happened only a few miles away from campus. My heart dropped into my ass when she went into detail, explaining how they found the body in the trunk of a burned car on a deserted street after receiving an anonymous call.

Knowing that O really made good on that got damn threat was hilarious in the most fucked up way. I could barely take my eyes off the screen until I felt the remote being slowly removed from my hand.

“Why are you watching this shit?” he grumbled, flicking the television off.

“Because I had a feeling that was the only way I'd know anything. Did you have to do that to him?”

“Yeah, I did. That way, they won’t be able to find much of shit. It'll also keep them from knowing exactly where the shooting happened. I didn’t have too many options, Swan. Any other questions?”

“Actually, yes,” I replied while turning to him. “Is that the real reason you came here? Because what you did seemed very premeditated.”

He was silent for a moment before he nodded.
